How We Feel (HWF) is a journal for your emotional wellbeing. It was recently named one of Apple’s 2022 Apps of the Year for Cultural Impact. HWF is also a non-profit created by Ben Silbermann, co-founder of Pinterest in partnership with Dr. Marc Brackett (Director of Yale’s Center for Emotional Intelligence). 

The mission of HWF is to enable anyone to learn the skills of emotional intelligence. With HWF, you can track your emotions, identify patterns, and learn research-backed strategies. By prompting users to tap into their emotional wellbeing with the ease of daily check-ins, How We Feel helps users put difficult emotions into words and presents strategies to address these emotions in the moment. HWF has more than 100,000 monthly active users and a 4.9 rating with nearly 2000 reviews in the App Store. 

Role Summary 

As the Founding Product Director you will essentially serve as the founder of the product and company. You will set the future direction of the product, allocate our budget and make other key business decisions that will ultimately shape How We Feel has on society. With the support of the founding team and current volunteer base, you will build the team, partnerships and roadmap for the next phase in the product’s growth. 

You will: 

Set the Product Roadmap: Decide what features to build, balancing our vision with feedback from our growing community of users. 

Ship Product Improvements: Work with a small engineering, science and design team to ship and support new features. 

Build Content Partnerships: Partner closely with content production teams to create compelling written and video based teaching materials 

Recruit: Recruit an outstanding team of engineers, designers, and community managers. 

Solve Problems. from striking partnerships to figuring out how to bring our product to new markets to responding to customer feedback and press inquiries. 

Allocate resources: make budget decisions between content production, product development, and research.

You have experience in: 

Building and shipping products. You’ve owned an early product, ideally an app, end-to-end. You/ve worked closely with and appreciate great design and engineering. 

Building teams. You’ve recruited and managed a team of high performing people. 

Ambiguity. You thrive in environments of constant change and enjoy wearing many hats. 

Working with different stakeholders. Adept at balancing the needs and perspective of audiences ranging from engineers, researchers, content creators and investors. 

Successful products. You have great taste in software and a POV of what makes it so.
